What Are the Advantages to Vinyl Siding?
Traditional Neighborhood Design
A growing trend in new home construction — the concept of "Traditional Neighborhood Design" or "New Urbanism" — demands individuality and distinction. The choice of vinyl siding for New Urbanism projects around the country highlights the aesthetic qualities of the material to create attractive streets and outdoor spaces. Some neighborhoods use more colors, different finishes and a greater variety of cladding types with more natural, wider panel widths to distinguish houses on the streetscape.
Gain Value and Curb Appeal for Your Home
(NAPSI)-Good news for many homeowners who want to do something
to update the look of their houses, even in a tough economy: You can
still benefit from a home remodeling project. Smart investments, such as
sprucing up your home's exterior with vinyl siding, can pay off in value
and curb appeal. With today's wide range of vinyl siding profiles,
architectural trim and accessories, plus color options to meet a variety of
architectural styles, vinyl siding can deliver beauty and durability at a
great value.
Here are five reasons vinyl siding is a great home improvement
investment:
• Lowest installation cost
• High return on investment
• Easy to maintain
• Superior green building performance
• Wide range of design and color options
Lowest Installation Cost and High Return On Investment
Vinyl siding has the lowest total installed cost of any exterior cladding,
yet offers among the highest returns on investment. Installing vinyl
siding on your home is one of the top home improvement projects in
terms of added value that is recouped at resale. In fact, vinyl siding,
unlike painting, can qualify as a capital improvement, providing breaks
on capital gains taxes when you sell your home.
It's GREEN!
Under the US Green Building Council and its Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Green Building Rating System, vinyl siding can earn more points than any other exterior covering. Thus it is the "Greenest" option. Unlike wood, vinyl siding and trim do not absorb water and are not subject to insect damage;
they do not pit, rust, or corrode, and they never need painting. Vinyl siding and PVC trim require less maintenance than wood and fiber cement.

Will My Roof and Vinyl Siding Last?
This is probably the most asked question by any home or business owner. We can readily reassure you that if we do your work, it will not just last, but that our work is at the cutting edge of design and beauty and is also the highest quality of material and workmanship. In our photo gallery, we have pictures of our 1st job we ever did. Those pictures were taken recently and the job was completed in 1987, so you can readily see that our work stands up to the elements as well as retaining beauty through the trests of time. Modern materials have improved so much that the warranties offered do not vary much at all. Roofing comes with a standard 25-30 year warranty and as much as 50 year warranty for premium shingles and siding comes with as much as a lifetime warranty. Today these warranties are also transferable if you should sell your home. Just contact us and we will assist you with transferring your material warranty to the new owners.

Do you do Insurance Claims?
Yes. Today, insurance companies often ask if you already have someone to do your repair for you. The insurance companies that we have worked with over the years actually prefer a home owner to already have someone they can trust to do these wind, rain, and hail damage claims. This makes their work much easier and they can readily write you the check for your years of working with them as your insurance agent, and there will far less chance of any additional damage to the interior of your home because of down time.
We also do emergency repairs to prevent initial damages from creating worse damage to your home by arriving as soon as the wind, hail, rain, or tree has damaged your home. We will access the damage, take immediate pictures and email them to your insurance agent, do emergency repairs - tarp, remove the debris - and keep the home in a state that your insurance claims adjuster can still assess then damage properly. This emergency protection to your home that we provide is covered on most insurance policies.

Testimonials
We pride ourselves in top of the line work, materials, customer service and productivity. This page contains testimonils and referrals from a number of the clients we have done and continue to do work for over the years.
- Jim (owner) was great to work with. He suggested a workable low cost solution to my problem and did a superb job. His work was top shelf and he was always available for any questions I had and kept me informed at every step of the project. Would definitely recommend him to any of my friends for any of their projects.
Dr. Deaver Shattuck, Knoxville TN
- Mr. Gentry has completed several jobs for us. His performance was
professional and ethical. He took our vision for the work and helped us from
planning to completion to make sure our needs were met. He kept in constant
contact with us and let us know of any unforeseen or unexpected changes. Mr.

Why Knox Gentry?
- Good reputation. If you wish a list of references we will gladly offer them. In 2009, we worked primarily for a Realtor, two Churches, and three Rental Property Management Corporations. We also did individual homes for surgeons and doctor’s offices. We welcome you to contact any of our clients located on our tesimonials page. Also, we would love for you to visit our current project we are working on, if you wish to see the highest quality workmanship we offer and the professional manner in which we work every single day.
- Thorough and thoughtful inspections. This includes deck, attic, flashing, chimney, soil stacks and other roof penetrations. We provide a highly detailed inspection to insure all your needs will be completely satisfied before the project even begins.
- A written estimate. We don’t bring other people to your job. We don’t shop for sub-contractors we don’t know. We actually do all your work. By doing these things, we find it easy to give a fair price in writing.
- We have built thousands of complete roof systems. Your roof is a series of components that work together and you should know about all of them. Each home is unique. Though there are common concepts traditionally used within every roof, we will investigate your home to be sure we have covered every single issue that could develop.
- We Know Ventilation. Ventilation is crucial for proper circulation. Improper ventilation will damage your shingles and can void your manufacturer’s warranty.
- No Short Cuts. Additional waterproofing underlayment might be needed if ice damming, wind-driven rain or collected flowing water might be a problem.
- We Know and USE manufacturer’s specifications and proper fastening techniques. Four fastenings are required for most shingles — six in high-wind areas. Fasteners should penetrate ¾" into the deck.
- We supervise the job during all phases of the work and inspect it exhaustively when finished. We thoroughly clean up your roof and around your house when finished. We remove all surplus materials. We leave your yard in the same shape we found it.
- Warranty! If you should ever have a problem, call us immediately. We handle warranty claims immediately and will assist you in filing any manufacturer warranty claim.
- Quality roofing materials. We check the product warranty plus UL fire and wind-resistance ratings. Choose a name you trust — not all shingles are the same.
